October 6-28, 2017 Lynn Brofsky, Helene Wilder, Tatiana Zaits “Women Painting Women”
“Moved by the sensuality of the human figure, asymmetry, architecture, landscape, growth and decay, and perceived connections; I attempt to relate my stories. I have found that more than anything, the driving force in my work is the relationship between place and human experience.”
“After my recent move to Santa Fe, NM, I cannot help but notice all the expressions of piety and religious devotion. The fact that many of these beliefs seem to have no logical explanation has greatly influenced my art. These unanswered questions have found home in this series of paintings. I am fascinated by religious symbolism and the Madonna. Like my past portraits I hope to portray inner strength as well as sorrow, feminine beauty versus man created religion.” Helene Wilder The Seer 30×24 Acrylic Mixed Media on canvas https://www.helenewilderart.com
A figurative painter who incorporates elements of abstraction. She is fascinated by the mosaic psychology of humankind. For her, people are continuous puzzles that she interprets and captures. Her characters are musicians, singers and dancers, people living on stage often strange and quirky with elongated bodies, dancing to their own rhythm.
