PAUL POLSON

“Producing art has always been a loving process. Like a scientist in a laboratory, I painted with a purpose to grow, delve into my mind and experiment with my medium.”  Raised in Wyoming, Polson was inspired by the beautiful geological world around him. The “Strata” paintings have been an ongoing and developing series throughout his art career. They can be described as stacked histories, geological cross sections or alternate dimensions.  He wants us to see and feel the layers of history within the landscape. He creates a geological perspective, like a core sample, seeing the strata of human existence over time. Polson is accomplished on many levels. He paints traditional landscape as well as his interpretations of the landscape.  Paul’s painting style often employs a “staccato rhythm” to his brushstroke with thick and thin application of paint for a tactile feel.
Polson was exhibited at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, the Bistro, Winter 2017-2018.
The other side of Paul Polson is his sculpture, large scale!  With a degree in the Fine Arts and two decades of sculpting experience, Polson entered into the inflatable industry in California in 1982.  Upon moving to the Northwest, he started Big Air Productions, Inc.in the 90’s.  His ability to develop new designs and technologies combined with his considerable experience and passion for perfection places him in the forefront of the field. Polson has created pieces for companies and events such as Cirque du Soleil™, Radio City™, Disney™, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Macy’s Day Parade™ http://www.3dair.com/about.
